On September 4, IFA 2026 officially kicked off in Berlin, Germany. One of the world’s three major consumer‑electronics trade shows, this year’s IFA drew over 1,900 exhibitors from 49 countries and regions under the theme “The Future is Now”. AI Upgrading Legacy Devices Without Hardware Replacement—Just One OTA Update


LeiTech (ID: LeiTech) observed an interesting trend at the show: many manufacturers expressed greater interest in upgrading their existing installed-base devices with AI capabilities than in launching entirely new smart hardware.


To address this industry pain point, BroadLink introduced its HuanSi AI Smart Solution.


Device manufacturers need only integrate standardized Bluetooth or Bluetooth/WiFi combo module SDKs—enabling legacy devices to acquire AI functionality rapidly, without extensive redesign or retesting. Now that the AI “brain” is in place and a clear upgrade path exists for legacy devices, how do we connect disparate brands and protocols—and especially large numbers of infrared and RF-based traditional home appliances?


On-site, BroadLink’s RM MAX Super Bridge drew considerable attention. First unveiled publicly at CES 2026, the product remains a focal point at this year’s IFA.


The RM MAX features dual bridging capabilities: it enables non-smart infrared and RF appliances to join the Matter ecosystem, while simultaneously bridging FastCon-compatible smart devices across all categories—achieving seamless integration with leading smart home platforms such as Apple Home and Google Home.


In short: older air conditioners and TVs need not be discarded and replaced; after bridging via RM MAX, they can operate collaboratively within the same unified system.


Only once devices are reliably connected can AI access and command them—making whole-home intelligence more than just a theoretical concept.
