We are at IFA Berlin. This year, one term resonates most frequently across the home‑appliance hall: “fresh‑keeping”.
The hall is packed with refrigerators, washing machines, steam ovens and a wide range of household appliances, keeping international visitors lingering on the show floor.
Today, however, Leitech focuses on one Chinese refrigerator brand and how it has brought its flagship in‑house technology to Europe for the very first time.
Behold this large black unit — the Hisense Brilliant 650.

Its most noteworthy highlight is a technology dubbed AI‑Adaptive Vacuum‑Magnetic‑Field Fresh‑Keeping.
The working principle is straightforward: vacuum extraction on the outside prevents oxidation, while a magnetic field suppresses enzyme activity inside the compartment. The dual‑pronged approach locks in food freshness.
Hisense has spent over a decade developing this solution, amassing more than 440 related patents.
What are its practical advantages? For instance, beef stored for seven days retains roughly 50 % higher freshness than the top‑grade Level‑1 fresh‑meat standard defined under national specifications.
Previously available only for the domestic Chinese market, this technology makes its overseas debut on models tailored for European consumers. It aligns perfectly with European shopping habits of stockpiling and preserving premium ingredients — and this is clearly a key target for Hisense.
Yet this single unit only tells part of the story. Where Hisense has invested substantial effort this time is artificial intelligence.
Multiple refrigerators on display are equipped with large screens. Hisense unveiled its AI Companion for overseas markets, backed by its proprietary AIOS system and the ConnectLife AIoT cloud platform.

It follows a different design philosophy from its counterpart for the Chinese domestic market.
Hisense describes this shift as “from smart devices to smart companions”. To put it plainly, legacy home appliances only act upon user commands. Now the system can proactively figure out user needs and make arrangements in advance.
For example, when you place a cut of meat into the refrigerator, the unit automatically identifies the ingredient and tracks how long it has been stored. It sends proactive alerts before the food loses freshness. If you are unsure what to cook for dinner, it generates recipe suggestions based on ingredients already inside the fridge. Recipes can be sent to the oven with one tap, with temperature and cooking duration pre‑configured automatically.
Impressively, it knows the optimal storage requirements for over 800 common types of ingredients. It has full knowledge of which compartment each type of meat belongs in and what temperature settings are required.
On top of that, Hisense has secured two Outstanding Innovation Awards at this IFA.

One award went to its three‑door Italian‑style refrigerator, and the other to its flush‑mount wine cabinet. Earning awards amid IFA’s fiercely competitive landscape is no small feat.
After touring the booth, the Leitech team came to a clear understanding.
Hisense’s presence at IFA is not merely about boosting refrigerator sales. With its Vacuum‑Preservation technology upgraded to version 4.0, the brand is evolving from simply connecting home appliances toward understanding users’ lifestyles. It aims to demonstrate that Chinese refrigerators are far more than just cost‑effective options.
This is no empty claim. Hisense ranks No.1 in refrigerator sales across 16 countries worldwide and holds a leading position in China’s vacuum‑preservation segment.
That explains why the brand dares to bring its decade‑long‑developed vacuum‑preservation technology to overseas markets for the very first time, to compete head‑to‑head with established rivals.
Whether it can succeed will be decided by the European market.
