AI is now managing your diet.

AI is reshaping our daily lives. In recent years, artificial intelligence has become a core buzzword. From large language models to AI Agent‑powered proactive services, whenever we talk about AI, we hear countless visions of how it will transform everyday life.

What matters most in life? Food.

As the old saying goes, “Food is the paramount necessity of people.”

How can AI connect with food? Let’s head to IFA Berlin to find out.

This is the Haier Smart Home exhibition hall, spanning a massive 3,500 square meters — one of the largest booths at this year’s IFA.

As many know, Haier started out manufacturing refrigerators. Refrigerators remain its time‑honored strength, having secured 18 consecutive years of global market leadership, so there is plenty of cutting‑edge innovation to discover here.

At this year’s IFA, Haier Refrigerators themed its exhibition area Where Freshness Meets AI. It serves as a clear global declaration: Haier refrigerators are evolving from conventional cooling appliances into AI butlers for users’ healthy diets.

Let’s dive straight into the real‑world experience.

Standing behind me is Horizon, a global blockbuster model under Haier’s large home appliance portfolio. Boasting an extra‑large capacity and clean chilled‑water dispensing, it is equipped with the “AI Eye”, which actively identifies and manages food ingredients, and sends pre‑expiry reminders to prevent food waste.

Powered by Haier’s AI Magnetic‑Control Full‑Space Fresh‑Keeping Technology, chilled raw meat stays fresh for up to 10 days in refrigeration, and salmon remains safe for raw consumption for seven days. The refrigerator can even suggest healthy recipes, functioning as a genuine dietary wellness assistant. It has become an instant hit upon launch across Europe, Southeast Asia, Brazil and other markets, with sales exceeding 60,000 units.

The Haier Seeker Multi‑Zone Precision‑Storage Refrigerator represents the highest‑level smart refrigerator in China today and has drawn great interest from international visitors. It can automatically recognize more than 2,000 types of food ingredients and advise users on optimal storage zones and freshness‑preserving settings.

Voice prompts plus built‑in interior lighting guide users to locate ingredients quickly, so there is no more rummaging through the fridge.

While cooking, the device generates recipe recommendations based on ingredients already stored inside, and can even pre‑heat connected steam‑oven‑grill combos. When shopping at the market, users can remotely check ingredient inventory via mobile phone, avoiding over‑buying or missing needed groceries.

Even thawing — one of the most time‑consuming and frustrating steps within the household food workflow covering purchasing, storage, inventory management, retrieval and cooking — is now seamlessly integrated via AI.

Haier’s Maestro Series refrigerator introduces groundbreaking AI Cellular-Level Thawing Technology, powered by a dedicated AI thawing large model. It automatically selects optimal thawing protocols based on ingredient type, size, and shape—using proprietary energy waves to achieve rapid, uniform thawing. A steak can be fully thawed in as little as five minutes—without losing any juices.

Notice something? Haier refrigerators go beyond merely enabling AI-driven proactive service—which only addresses interaction. Instead, they embed AI deeply into the refrigerator’s core use cases to fundamentally reimagine the user experience.

Fragmented AI features can be implemented by any brand—but turning the refrigerator into an AI entry point and weaving together an end-to-end, seamless healthy-eating experience? So far, only Haier has achieved this.

A refrigerator is no longer just a food storage box—it’s a holistic health and nutrition assistant for the modern home.

AI-powered upgrades bring Haier Smart Home another, less visible advantage: comprehensive product coverage and a mature ecosystem.

At IFA, Haier Smart Home’s white-goods platform demonstrated its ability to break down silos between refrigerators, washing machines, and kitchen appliances—enabling AI-driven, cross-category integration from laundry care to intelligent food preparation. This vividly illustrates what a true “smart-home scenario” looks like.

So—how exactly does AI change everyday life? The answer may well lie right here.
