Chinese refrigerators and washing machines drew crowds from international visitors at IFA.

After years of covering the IFA trade show, my biggest takeaway this year can be summed up in one sentence: Chinese tech enterprises have completed the shift from “scale‑driven advantages” to “technological clout.”

Walking through the exhibition halls, the sheer density of innovations from Chinese brands compels the whole European market to sit up and take notice.

Take TCL as an example. Breaking the conventional boundaries of the home, it presented a vision of a full‑scenario future home spanning diverse spaces and dimensions for global audiences.

Still, I lingered for a long time at the refrigeration‑laundry exhibition zone. After all, refrigerators and washing machines are daily necessities for ordinary households.

And in this fiercely competitive product category, TCL’s offerings drew crowds of international onlookers who were reluctant to move on.

Here is a fundamental observation: Europe boasts some of the world’s strictest home‑appliance access standards. Brands that can establish a firm foothold and sustain strong sales here must boast solid quality‑control systems and robust technical capabilities.

TCL’s refrigeration and laundry division has even stronger credentials than most realize: TCL Smart Home ranks first globally for Chinese refrigerator exports for 17 consecutive years, with consistent strong sales across multiple European countries.

At this year’s IFA, TCL Dual‑Magnet Fresh Series Refrigerator won the IFA Global Product and Technology Innovation Award – Gold Award for Dual‑Magnet Fresh‑Keeping Technology.

TCL washing machines deliver premium European‑grade quality, applying identical standards and quality‑control protocols domestically and internationally, with no dual standards across global markets.

Simply put, recognition from the European market and purchases from discerning European consumers serve as the ultimate endorsement.

This year, TCL’s refrigeration and laundry strategy is exceptionally clear: technical specifications have long been sufficient; real-world user experience is now the primary battleground.

This is especially evident in refrigerators—the entire industry obsesses over fresh-food compartment preservation, while the freezer compartment remains largely neglected.

Yet the steaks, seafood, and meats we stockpile at home spend most of their time in the freezer. Over time, they dry out or release excessive bloody liquid upon thawing—this remains the biggest pain point for Chinese households.

This TCL Dual-Magnetic Fresh refrigerator breaks new ground directly in the freezer: achieving ultra-low -40°C freezing temperatures, combined with a highly stable magnetic field, maximizing freezing preservation efficiency while suppressing large ice crystal formation and preventing cellular damage to food.

In layman’s terms: steaks and seafood frozen for up to 100 days retain minimal bloody liquid upon thawing, delivering texture and taste nearly indistinguishable from freshly purchased items.

While its freezer performance ranks among the industry’s best, its fresh-food compartment is equally impressive: proprietary *Molecular Magnetic Fresh Technology keeps fruits and vegetables hydrated for up to 15 days, and meat fresh and firm for up to 7 days.

I observed firsthand how several European visitors repeatedly opened the refrigerator door to inspect the freshness storage space, then leaned in closely to examine the color and condition of stored meats—so intently, they seemed ready to carry one home on the spot.

Now let’s turn to TCL washing machines. TCL applies the same rigorous European standards domestically and internationally—no dual standards. Its machines are engineered for long-term durability and sustained performance over extended operational lifecycles—a feature previously reserved exclusively for top-tier premium white-goods brands.

The TCL Heat-Pump Super Drum All-in-One Washer-Dryer showcased at this year’s IFA epitomizes this European-standard excellence: its self-developed Flash-Dry Heat-Pump technology delivers full drying in just 30 minutes—eliminating multi-day waits during rainy weather. After an intense workout, toss your T-shirt in and wear it straight out of the machine.

Cleaning performance is equally uncompromising. TCL’s core Super Drum technology—refined over several years—has earned consistent acclaim across domestic and international markets. Integrating a 540mm large drum diameter, 6D lifters, and wave-patterned inner drum, it extends tumbling paths for more uniform, thorough cleaning—balancing cleaning power with fabric care. The entire unit has earned dual international Woolmark Green Certifications, ensuring wool garments won’t shrink and enabling professional-level care for premium fabrics right at home.

AI-powered Smart Wash further enhances usability: automatically identifying fabric type and soil level, making operation effortless for seniors and children alike.

From specs to real-world experience, from domestic to European markets, TCL’s integrated refrigeration and laundry strategy is razor-sharp: build products to world-class standards, so domestic users can access globally acclaimed, high-quality appliances—without paying a premium or relying on overseas purchasing agents.

The reactions of foreign attendees on-site provided the most authentic validation—some meticulously photographed product details with their smartphones; others double-checked technical specifications repeatedly. Their expressions spoke volumes: TCL’s white-goods lineup has genuinely impressed even the world’s most exacting consumers—through sheer technological capability.

TCL’s refrigeration and laundry appliances are merely a microcosm. Ultimately, Chinese home appliances once dominated the world through scale; today, they earn global respect through technology.

As increasing numbers of Chinese brands step onto the global stage armed with original technologies, the world has no choice but to reassess—technology has always been the ultimate passport.
