The era of personal robots may truly be upon us.

IFA 2026 Special Report (5).jpg

September 4, 2026 marks the official opening of IFA 2026 (Berlin International Trade Fair for Consumer Electronics). Leitech has dispatched its largest‑ever reporting team to Berlin to deliver immersive, multi‑dimensional and first‑hand coverage of the event.

The biggest takeaway for the Leitech team at this year’s show is clear: humanoid robots have truly taken centre stage.

Last year, most players were still presenting concepts and visions on slides. This year, competition has intensified sharply. Amid numerous exhibition booths, one Chinese brand has drawn strong audience attention — PrimeBOT.

PrimeBOT is a consumer‑grade embodied‑AI brand under Sunway New Materials. This marks PrimeBOT’s first appearance at IFA with two personal‑robot models, showcasing its products built for individual and household scenarios to overseas markets.

PrimeBOT pioneered the concept of “Your First Personal Robot”. It advances three core rationales to bring robots into ordinary homes:

First, consumer‑friendly pricing that lowers the entry barrier for household adoption.

Second, compact dimensions and approachable industrial design. The robot features a small, non‑intimidating form factor with minimal safety concerns. Leitech observed that European parents at the show generally felt comfortable letting children interact and play with the robot.

Third, expanded practical use‑cases. Beyond delivering emotional companionship, it unlocks real‑life functions such as follow‑shot filming for camping, towing camping trolleys and carrying payloads, defining tangible household value for robots.

Its booth adopts PrimeGallery as its core design concept. Upon entry, visitors are greeted by a multilingual personal‑robot photo‑wall, which explains the product category through globally‑oriented visual storytelling. Further inside lies the dedicated experience zone for the PrimeBOT T1.

Yet what truly stopped visitors in their tracks were the three IFA‑custom editions of the PrimeBOT Q1.

The PrimeBOT Q1 features a modular body and open‑ended creative capabilities. The brand invited three creators from distinct fields to carry out secondary development. Leading tech content creator Linus put his classic IP character onto the robot chassis to build the Mini‑Linus themed unit. International contemporary artist 00Zhan delivered an artistic custom edition with avant‑garde liquid‑cooling aesthetics. Well‑known Chinese 3D‑printing studio Chengdou Creations drew inspiration from lunar explorers to craft a heavily sci‑fi‑styled variant.

Spanning personal IP, artistic expression and sci‑fi imagination, the three robots boast completely divergent aesthetics. A constant stream of visitors stopped to take photos, turning the booth into a popular photo‑op spot.

From Leitech’s perspective, this marks a noteworthy shift. Robots used to come as uniform, one‑size‑fits‑all standard units. Now the industry is embracing personalisation and co‑creation. Enabling users to participate and turning robots into vessels for individual aesthetics and interests makes far more sense than simply chasing higher specifications.

Furthermore, Leitech has learned that PrimeBOT has collaborated with Insta360 on a robot seemingly built for photography. The robot’s gripper is sized perfectly to hold an Insta360 gimbal.

Its value lies in breaking the fixed‑perspective limitations of conventional handheld shooting. It facilitates all‑angle follow‑shot filming and complements ground‑level panoramic imaging capabilities beyond the bird’s‑eye view offered by drones. This may emerge as one of the major trends for robot‑powered, embodied imaging in the future.

Besides that, Leitech observed that PrimeBOT also brought a distinctive technology to the show.

Working on a force‑sensing principle similar to that of self‑balancing scooters, the robot can detect in real time the force and direction of user‑applied pulling, and proactively coordinate its movements accordingly.

At the booth, children could lead the robot to walk, turn and make U‑turns with smooth, natural motion, no remote‑controller required. This feature facilitates seamless switching between different usage scenarios and further boosts its household‑friendly traits and ease of use.

Notably, in its IFA debut, PrimeBOT has walked away with two official IFA awards:

PrimeBOT T1 received the IFA Innovation Achievement Award. The official recognition acknowledges its technological leadership in content creation, validating that robots can serve as an entirely new content medium and bring form‑factor innovation and enhanced experiences to the creator ecosystem.

PrimeBOT Q1 was honoured with the IFA Innovation Honor Award, which recognises brands delivering breakthrough innovations in cutting‑edge technology. The award underscores PrimeBOT’s pioneering value in its forward‑looking layout for personal robots.

One award recognises achievements in content creation, while the other honours emerging‑technology breakthroughs, perfectly aligning with the distinct positioning of the two products. To earn such accolades on its IFA debut speaks volumes about the high calibre of PrimeBOT’s offerings.

Beyond its products and awards, Leitech attended an intriguing keynote speech titled Kitchen and Household Robots: From Special‑Purpose Tools Toward Humanoid Robots at the IFA Dream Stage thematic forum.

PrimeBOT’s overseas lead stated that personal robots do not need to handle every household task right out of the box, nor are they required to perform labour‑intensive work from launch. What they must do is deliver tangible value. Such value can start from interactive companionship, autonomous learning and creative generation.

PrimeBOT takes a highly pragmatic approach: first earn its way into people’s homes.

For robots to genuinely serve households, the priority is not to pile on features, but to convince users to keep them in their living spaces.

In many respects, PrimeBOT’s debut serves as a microcosm of Chinese embodied‑AI brands expanding onto the global stage.

Over the past few years, robots have largely operated within industrial and commercial scenarios. How to enter households and become consumer goods for ordinary people remains a challenge the entire industry has been exploring.

By bringing this new category of personal robots to IFA, PrimeBOT has introduced fresh approaches including an open ecosystem and co‑creation programmes, setting a benchmark for the industry.

Of course, this debut is only the first step. Real‑world product experience and ecosystem maturity will ultimately be tested by the market. Leitech will keep following its progress closely.

In the days ahead, Leitech’s IFA 2026 reporting team will stay on‑site at IFA Berlin to deliver more first‑hand updates on embodied‑AI technologies. Stay tuned for further coverage.
